how/where is the CMOS battery to replace?

December 10, 2010 at 13:58:31
Specs: Windows Vista
I guess I should ask where is the CMOS battery for a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop? I have the same problem I've been reading about, having to hit the F1 key to get the computer started. I changed something in the bios (?) a year ago but don't remember what I did and ever since I have to press the F1 key to book. It opens fine with the F1 key, but I'd like to try to fix it. Thanks

I'd think that your problem is caused by some change that you did.

Might have a tech person or friend that knows a lot try to return bios settings to default or failsafe and then save them. It may be that some entry you made is not possible and that is why the F1 issue?

Dell usually has all the docs if you use your service code on their site.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

Maybe you turned on S.M.A.R.T test for the hard drive and it's testing the drive and it's failing? Usually it will say hit F1 to continue when it test the drive and it fails. Just a thought.

Just because the OP does not come back in 3 or 4 days to reply, does not mean he will not come back and reply.
