how to show hibernate button windows vista

April 16, 2011 at 11:48:49
Specs: Windows Vista, 4.0 GB
When I press Start/Shut Down, I see the following choices: Switch User, Log Off, Restart, Sleep, and Shut Down. I have another computer, also running Vista Business, that offers Switch User, Log Off, Restart, Sleep, Hibernate, and Shut Down. I've tried everything I can think of and can't get the Hibernate choice to appear! Anybody solved this one?

Type cmd into the start menu search and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open it. In the command prompt type in "powercfg /hibernate on" without the quotes. After you restart your PC it should show up as an option.
