how to fix couldn't load XPCOM.Trying to install AOL Shield. I installed it but get a message "couldn't load XPCOM?
Personally, I would use another browser. If you're dead set on using that thing you mentioned above, completely uninstall it then reinstall. Doing the best I can here... And remember, there's always more than one path to success. :)
If you're running Vista, it doesn't appear AOL Shield is supported. The system requirements show Win7 SP1 or newer: https://discover.aol.com/products-a... All the major browsers, including Internet Explorer, dropped XP & Vista a while ago. If you want to browse safely, it's time to upgrade the OS.

The last version of Firefox that works with Vista is ESR 52.x. It is not upgradable beyond that point but it will still receive security patches for about 6 more months: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/k...
Download ESR 52.0 here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox...

I suggest you re-review your list of browsers. Chromium is currently at version 59. The last version to support XP & Vista was version 49. So if you're going to direct someone to download any chromium based browser(s), you should at least make sure to post links to the specific versions that still actually work. For instance, your links for Opera are all to version 49 but version 36 is the last to support Vista:
https://www.ghacks.net/2016/02/17/o...According to the latest OS market share stats, Vista is used by less than 1/2 of 1%. It's time to move on:

All my links indicate they are Vista compatible."For instance, your links for Opera are all to version 49 but version 36 is the last to support Vista:"
"According to Google, Chrome 49 is the last working version of Google Chrome that is available for operating systems that are no longer supported. While Chrome 49 will work just fine on those systems for now, it won't receive any more updates including security updates."
