How to fix a corrupt exe registry

Specs: Windows Vista
Hey, I recently got hit by Security Shield virus and after removing it and beginning to repair the damage it had done I'd found that it had corrupted my registary so almost every program and application I have won't run. Afterwards trying to fix it I used a couple of command prompts to find the exact location of the registary and try to import a correct path that way but was unable to because of it being corrupted and so wasn't locationable along with access to that pathway being denied.

Now onto the full question, is there a way to properly restore the exe. registary without having to do a reformat or using a program I'm now unable to open as they all run from exe?

I'm running on Windows Vista 64-bit using an Acer Predator G7700 Sniper Gaming PC
