Specs: Windows 10
i have a toshiba satellite A215-S5822 and want to do a factory reset but it doesnt have the original hard drive, is there another way without having to buy recovery disk?

If you're wanting to return it to it's "pristine" condition (as when purchased), then you'll likely need a factory-cd. Otherwise, if you're just wanting to reformat it (to sell, or just start again with a fresh OS), then no, you don't need the factory cd. You'd just likely need to download additional drivers from Toshiba:

Vista was a kludge of an OS:

So personally I'd load up Win7. The Toshiba site above doesn't show drivers beyond Win7 so Win8/10 is likely a no-go.

Why on earth would you want to run Vista? It's no longer supported, it's unsafe, plus it sucks.

You'd be better off installing Linux or you could even install Win10 without a product key. Just make sure the wifi is disabled when doing the installation, then you can create an offline account rather than registering an email address. Win10 will function normally with only a few minor restrictions.
