how do I disable HDD SMART in my computer?

Specs: Windows Vista
My PC does not start up, I read that is the HDD SMART that does not allow it to do so and I found that there is a disk,sys which cannot be read

It means that your hard disk is broken. It needs to be replaced.

Go to the hard drive manufacturers support site and download and run the Hard Drive Fitness Test Software, usually it is supplied as an ISO to create a bootable CD.

Though it seems that your hard drive has died !

We can't say for sure. It may be a file system issue or a hard drive issue. Run the test first and then we'd know.

Can one say for sure what he is talking about, hardware or software?
