How do i create an image on my Partition?

Specs: Windows Vista, 1.00 GB Ram
I have an HP dv6000 and i wanted to restore my pc to factory settings via my Recovery partition. however, in My Computer, it says 6.59gb free out of 6.59 gb...so im assuming that if i tried to restore my pc this way it would not turn out good. im guessing there is no image on the partition. how do i make an image of my OS onto my partition so i can reset to factory settings?

PS i am running windows vista home premium service pack 2, 32bit

... might be an idea to create recovery dvd through the programs listing HP (tools) recovery manager first!

... [press] and hold the <F11> <key> @ bootup to launch the HP Recovery Manager.

... will your system allow you to create recovery media?

... it might not if your recovery partition is toast!
