How do I clean up Windows Vista?

January 2, 2010 at 12:30:27
Specs: Windows Vista
i'd like to clean up everything i don't want, won't install, etc. and also somehow i keep getting more than one documents folder that keeps coming up. I must have done something incorrectly. Can I restore and start over? The only thing is that I have purchased programs that i want to keep.

It depends what kind of system restore you run. If you do a standard restore, it shouldn't lose any programs that you've purchased.

A good place to start is with the Windows Startup options. Disabling programs you never use there will make things run a lot faster.

I'm not quite sure what you mean with the documents folder problem though. More than one folder as in a copy of the original...?

If Vista is that messed up, it's probably going to be easier for you to do a restore.

Save all your purchased programs license keys

Then do a clean install of Vista
Some users have Recovery Setup discs or partitions, but here is a guide on using a Windows Setup Disc
