how can i get back something that was deleate

I have been writing a novel for 3 YEARS and backing it up on a flash drive & hitting save on word pad everyday I stop writing.Today I can't find where I stopped last night.When I scroll down to the bottom of the page it show's where I left off about 6 WEEKS ago!!!! HELP I feel suicidal.

Open word pad, click edit, find. When the find box opens, enter something unique to the last chapter & press enter. It should take you right to it.

You can run a data recovery program on the flash drive if you think it is corrupt, and depending how you label the file, it may not neccessarily be the last files shown.

I have run a data recovery app on a flash drive - destroyed it by continuously accessing a bad sector it found. Use with caution. The flash drives only write to file a limited number of times. Don't trust just one (anything) with important data. ALWAYS have a backup!

You should be aware that flash drives are the least reliable of modern storage media. Never rely on one for long term storage of anything important. They have a limited and unknown number of writes and can fail at any time, often without warning or possibility of recovery.

For anything as important as what you are working on you need at least two backup methods. Never rely on just one.
