As you don't have any disks, I take it you are selling or giving the comp away.

WIPE OUT will clean the drive.

"the pc did not come with any disks"
So how are you going to reinstall Vista without any CD.
Once you format, you lose everything.

"and need to format it back to factory settings"
When you talk about format, we take you at your word.

What you should have said is, I want to restore it back to factory settings.

Try these.

FN + F10
Or,
CTRL + F10
Or,
Alt + F10

Alt+F10 is the key for System Restore

http://techietalkz.com/2011/05/03/h...

Once your computer turned on, press and hold Alt key, then continuous press F10 button until you see Acer eRecovery System is running (you might need to do it for a couple of times before your system entered Acer eRecovery System, I failed to enter for a few times when I trying it out, not sure why though). You should have three or more options available.

I always set mine to boot from the HDD ( Sata ) first, check the manual to see what it says for that & restore.
