Gateway TA6 completely screwed up

July 7, 2009 at 22:29:40
Specs: Windows Vista
So a while ago my laptop started acting really sluggish when doing anything: loading vista, programs in windows, whatever. Now I am at a point where it doesnt even load windows anymore, here are the problems:
1.when I go to safe mode, it hangs at the load screen where it says: loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys or crcdisk.sys or something else
2.when I try to boot from a vista cd, it just goes shows a blackscreen and goes nowhere
3.when I try to load vista normal, it just shows the green loading bar moving forever

Anyone have any ideas? Im thinking maybe hard drive or ram but not sure.

"...when I try to boot from a vista cd, it just goes shows a blackscreen and goes nowhere..."

... is the bios set to boot off cd/dvd first? how to enter bios

I don't get the "Repair computer" option in Advanced Boot Options, I might have formatted and installed regular Vista at some previous point.

Bios is set to boot off of cd/dvd, it actually starts to boot off the cd, initially showing "press any key to boot from cd" but then when it does it just goes into black screen.
