Solved Gateway stops at long beep when boot at CD without HDD

September 29, 2012 at 08:40:37
Specs: Windows Vista
A friend gave me a Gateway GM5688E without hard drive. When I boot it from CD, it just stops at a long beep with the noise to startup the CD, no bios and other screen response. I don't know if there's anything wrong with it and if it deserve a new SATA hard drive or more to make it to work.

Thanks.

✔ Best Answer
If you can't get the bios to show, you then need to work on that.

Power up the computer then tap F2 while booting. This should get you to the BIOS (setup) screen.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks for all the help.

It boils down to memory failure. Now I've replaced the memory and it shoots out the bios screen. I'll add a hard drive to make it full-fledged.

I see this sort of thing everyday. Lucky for me I got the best for a change. Don't be mad.

The issue was the OP asked thinking the cd was the problem maybe. The bios suggestion was how they needed to be looking.
