Hello everyone, I just found this website tonight and I love it!!

I have a problem with my gateway laptop. It gets stuck at the logo screen. I try to press f2 and it goes to a screen that looks like it is checking some RAM or something. At the bottom is says "press f2 to enter setup", so I do and it never does anything. I press f10 at the logo screen and sometimes it shuts the laptop off and other times it just says "pleae wait" at the bottom left had side of screen. I am just trying to boot another way, but all I want to do is a factory reset. I got all my info off, and have even tried booting from the restore cd, but it freezes at the logo screen. Other posts have said to reset the CMOS jumper, but I think those directions are not for a laptop. I just need it to boot from a cd, or factory reset, or ANYTHING. Any and all help would be great to get me past the logo sreen.

I usually get this symptom when the hard drive never enters the "ready" state. Flip your laptop upside down and take out the hard drive. Turn on your laptop without the hard drive connected and see if you get different results. If the laptop responds, then unfortunately you'll have a hard drive to bury in the backyard. The good news is then that you don't have a whole laptop to bury.

If you still have warranty I suggest contacting Gateway support.
