Specs: Windows Vista
hello,
i have a brand new computer with vista, directx 10, ati radeon x1200 graphics card, 4gb ram. My problem is i try and load any pc game like left 4 dead and sometimes it just jumps back to the desktop but i can hear the game continuing to load but everytime i try and click back in it jumps to my desk top again. I have updated my graphics card drivers (although the x1200 drivers are not easy to find an i am not convinced it worked as it said upgraded sucessfully but didnt ask me to re start my computer) and this seemed to fix it but has since happened again and is not working - seems to coincide with coming out of the game, alt + tab, and then not being able to get back in - please advise thanks

you should increase screen resolution.
go to system properties and select setting tab and you can increase resolution. Then you should check.

hello again,
after a day of no glitching due to resolution change. I have done nothing new with my machine but today the same problem is happening pretty much constantly now - same as before, every now and again i hit esc just as the game starts and it seems to kick in but not very often. After your advice yesterday when i jumped from game to desktop there were no little flashes like the menu bar at the bottom of the screen flashing up in between loading and it was working perfectly - but today back to the flashes and refusing to stay in game. I have tried all the resolution options and no joy - hope you have another suggestion.
Many thanks
