Firefox Preferences not holding

December 20, 2009 at 23:13:42
Specs: Windows Vista
Hi am running Vista Business on Acer laptop.
have started to get a problem with Preferences not holding.i.e If I move a book mark up in its list when I next log on it has reverted to its original position.
Also I need to download an update in add ons, this it will do but again after a short while or on opening it has disappeared and I get the prompt messgae saying a new update ready to install.
I have run scans:Via Malware and Bullguard antivirus all clean.
I have uninstalled FF and reinstalled:No difference
I have tried doing the update and then create a restore: but still not holding.
Any Help appreciated.
Granny Kate ( not a tekkie)Ha!! but trying.

try installing firefox into a different folder or location. Sounds like it is corrupt, and uninstalling and re in the same folder will produce the same results as you just had, so you might try another location.

Thank you so much, really appreciated. Will keep a copy of the link ,excellent to have reliable links.
Fingers crossed may have sussed it,Everything held last 24 hours.
Did a restore back to November then disabled all Add ons, then uninstalled FF again also the plugin add on that was not holding.
Will now introduce replacement other add ons one by one, to ensure that they were not faulty.
As a thought I was running 'Sandboxie' and 'WOT' I deleted disabled both of these again will re introduce them singly and check.
Wonder if they were the cause,
have you any comments on the the use of those last two???
Thanks again
