Files missing after Toshiba factory restore

Specs: Vista Home premium
I restored my Toshiba laptop A210 windows vista and was given the option to keep my files which I asked it to do. I can not find the files after it took it back to manufacturers settings. Is there a special place that Toshiba would keep the files?

Normally when you perform a non-destructive restore the files remain where they were stored. I can speak of this by doing it a number of times with an HP laptop, I would imagine Toshibas process would be similar.

Have you tried searching the computer using a wild card? For example if it was MP3 files that you had try searching the entire computer for *.mp3

If you get successful hits you may be able to track down the remaining files by observing the location of the found files.

mmm Regardless of whether or not you resolve the problem you describe now... it would be wise to develop the habit of regularly copying your personal files off the system entirely. Typically to DVD - but to another external hard drive too is nicer...
