Files AutoDeleting After Download!

Specs: Windows Vista, P4
Hi,

I upgraded a friends computer to Vista and now when files in either Internet Explorer or Firefox are downloaded, the just dissapear. Permissions are set for full read-write access. I cannot right click and say "reveal containing folder" because the option is greyed out. I have tried making a new user account and this worked for a little while, but now its not working again.

It would be nice to download things without Windows deleting them right away after being downloaded.

AVG is the virus software installed, but it doesn't seem to be that.

Is the download window set to close after download? Just checking the easiest thing first. There is an option you tick to close the dialog box after download without input from teh user. Check and see if the files your friend was downloading are in her My Documents (or whichever file is the usual file downloads are placed in).

If you are using Firefox, where are the downloads set to go? Once you know that, you can open the containing folder yourself.

They are autosaving to the desktop. When its downloading, you
see a ".part" file and when the download is done, the file will
just disappear. Same things happen if its moved to Documents.

Created a new user account, administrator, with full read-write
access.

Which Vista did you install, home basic, home premium, ultimate.....? When you installed it, did you set an administrator password? Try to login as administrator with or without it.
