Favorites gone after a system restore?

Specs: Windows Vista
I had an issue where I accidentally hide almost all the files on my computer earlier and no matter what I did, I could not get them back. My husband, who works in IT, could not get them back so I decided the best and easiest thing to do was to do a system restore from 1PM that afternoon. Everything was fine, everything went back to normal and then I went onto Internet Explorer and all my favorites were gone. Doing a quick search, I saw some people mention an Undo Restore option, so I did that thinking my favorites would return but they didn't. I haven't done anything since then, just searching online for an answer on how to get them back. Please let me know what I can do to get them back and if I can't, that's okay, although still sucky.

Restore favorites from the backup file you made. You are supposed to keep your favorites and other stuff backed up to another drive or to optical discs. If you didn't do that, you've lost them.

One virus I nailed recently hid a lot of user files. I first noticed it when no faves showed up.

Go into explorer/tools/folder options/view/ and uncheck all hide *** files. Then navigate to the fave folder to see if they exist, or simply check in IE. If they're there, you need to manually unhide any folders that were hidden. Then go back and re-hide system files.
