Specs: Windows Vista, t2080 duo 1,73ghz
My laptop has stopped loading windows. It keeps coming up with "pc repair" window that when run gives the message "This problem cannot be repaired automatically". The cause of the fault is as follows.....

Boot Configuration Corrupt
Action: Partition Table repair
Error code: 0x490

I have started the pc with windows vista dvd in the drive but i get the same message.

I do have the option to RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS. But that is the last resort as all of my files will be deleted (no backup made).

Can i fix the partition?
Can i somehow save my files before RESET TO FACTORY?

Please help, thank-you

Use a Linux Live CD like Knoppix, to save your files of the Windows partitions to a safe place (USB-Stick, USB hard drive).

The original poster should always write the last response !!!
Let us know, if the problem is solved !!!
