windows starts and then the screen slowly goes black but if you tilt the computer you can still see very faint images
Whenever you can move or vibrate a computer to change what happens it is a hardware fault. Possibly a screen fault, or backlight. A connection fault is always possible but the effects are usually quite sudden. EDIT:
Another thought. It could simply be that tilting enables you to see something that is very dim rather than it being an intermittent fault (which is what I had in mind above). In which case there are quite a lot of possibilities for a dim screen, mostly along the lines suggested. Go to BIOS then watch the screen for a while and see if it fades there. If so it is definitely a hardware fault - fairly certain anyhow.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi cat4dun, Is it a laptop or a desktop?
As rightly suggested by "Derek" you can open the BIOS setup page and check if the issue persists there.
For BIOS page you may restart the system and tap F2 or Delete.
Also, you may connect a good known external display (Monitor or TV) to isolate the issue.
For Dell laptops with black screen issue, refer to the link mentioned below:

"Also, you may connect a good known external display"That's a good idea - I should have thought of it myself.
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
