Computer Problem please help

Toshiba / Satellite a205

Specs: Windows Vista
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A205. For
some stupid reason my computer keeps
shutting down on its own. I am pretty sure my
fan is working fine as I can leave it on for a
very long time and it will not shut down.
However, sometimes when I am watching a
video on a slow internet (DSL, or bad
connection) my computer will shut off. Then it
will keep shutting down until I leave it alone for
a couple hours. It does not do it that often but
when it does, it does it for like a week or two
and it sucks then it goes away and is fine.
What is wrong with my computer? Is it fixable?
I have had my computer for 2 1/4 years so it is
not under warranty. What should I do?

Several reasons:

- Bad RAM...
- CPU Overheating (shutdown so as to save the CPU from frying)
- Bad Power Supply...

download speed fan and monitor the temperatures...if they reach 70 C, the computer will shutdown...

- Speed Fan >> here <<

Also download Memtest, burn it to a CD, boot from it and test your RAM...

- Memtest >> here <<

If the temps are OK, and the RAM goes OK in Memtest, it might be your PSU...
