Specs: Windows vista
Hi, on a company network (windows vista) where no winzip is allowed I need to combine several files and folders in one file, preserving the file names and the folder structure. How should I do that?

Please check with your company if 7-zip, which can do what you want, is allowed.

What have they got against winzip (assuming that - as it's commercial use - you have paid for a licence)? It's not as if it's any sort of security risk, and a version bought from the publisher is going to be free of malware. You could make an .iso image of the folder, but they probably don't allow the software to do that.

The real answer is to draw up a document outlining the business case for this and give it to your manager. Ask him to talk to the IT manager to ensure that they get their priorities right and support business needs rather than just policing for the sake of it.

✔ Best Answer
XP, Vista, Win7 can zip up files for you. hold down the Control key and highlight the files you want zipped. Then right click, Send To, Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

Doh! Forgot that. No wonder I haven't used WinZip for years.

Thanks THX 1138! That works and creates a structure that can be treated as a file (and sent by wetransfer.com in one go somewhere else!). Top!
All others that replied thanks as well!
