Cleaning up Vista AntiSpyware

November 24, 2010 at 11:47:17
Specs: Windows Vista, 3.2/512MB
I have a friend who has this and it seems to be creating a lot of false reports of malware. I have found 2 articles that say Vista AnyiSpyware is a fradulent application and have instructions to get rid of it. I just want to make sure that they are correct.

The instructions are to put the following in notepad and name it exefix.reg;

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@=”exefile”
“Content Type”=”application/x-msdownload”

Never heard of vista antispyware.

Uninstall it after you have installed Microsoft essentials.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

I ran the regedit code as suggested by the three websites and it got rid of it. I have installed AVG so she should be good to go.
