It probably piggybacked on something else you installed. You should always pay attention during installations & not be too quick to click "next". Did you look in Control Panel > Programs & Features to see if it's on the uninstall list? It would help to know the name of the toolbar, if it's not listed, there may be an uninstaller available.

✔ Best Answer
To my mind all toolbars are a waste of space and some are down right dangerous.

If you are not concerned about any other addon toolbars you might have present then install and run this free program:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivi...

It will get shot of all of them.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Check for any options but it looks as if you might have to run with Chrome, complete with search engine, or you use another browser such as Firefox.

It could still be worth trying ADWCleaner - it might just remove the toolbar only.

Derek has already given you the best way to remove Social Search Toolbar.

Run AdwCleaner
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivi...
http://www.softpedia.com/progScreen...
http://general-changelog-team.fr/en...
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/adwclean...
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Delete.
Confirm each time with Ok.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

If you only want to Disable Social Search Toolbar.
1: Go to the upper right corner & click on the 3 lines, then click on settings.
2: In the left hand column click on Extensions, then scroll down to SocialSearchBar_App & unclick > Enable.

I use Chrome and it doesn't come with Social Search Bar.

As riider suggested, it probably came piggybacked with something else or it gets installed as an extra option with Chrome. Uninstall Chrome, then re-install it. Watch each screen very closely, don't just click through them. If one of the screens asks if you want to install the toolbar, uncheck the option to install it.
