CHKDSK and vista trying to get rid of my dual boot install of linux!?!
Help!
I really cannot stress this enough: My CHKDSK gets rid of all the "128, 0 , 0" attributes from ubuntu linux.
And then my Linux is turned into a prompt that states: "Cannot find ubuntu" or something like that.
So stressed, just going to eventually take my hard drive out, swap it for a New Solid State Drive,
and make sure it's formatted, then install ubuntu alone.

NO!

Vista can not access a linux file system.

It may be that you didn't tell us the full story and that you used wubi to install linux.

" swap it for a New Solid State Drive, and make sure it's formatted, then install ubuntu alone."

Good idea Ubuntu 12.04LTS will be released soon...

As to your issues you should use the recovery options when booting from the Vista DVD:

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....
