Solved change/remove programs on acer aspire

September 27, 2011 at 20:01:39
Specs: Windows XP
I'm trying to help my friend make his acer functional again and wanted to start by removing mcafee and norton since he did not uninstall mcafee before norton.
I can view installed programs when I'm in safe mode, but it won't let me delete them there.
When I'm not in safe mode, NO programs appear under add/remove programs.
Does anyone know how I can remove these programs under the current circumstances?

Try revo uninstaller, but sure sounds like the computer has issues. Try running malwarebytes after to see if it helps any. The revo uninstaller should help get rid of the programs, it's free.

Usually a corrupt registry causes programs to not show up in add/remove programs but in general I do Not recommend registry cleaning programs.

Try downloading and running malwarebytes...make sure it updates! It's a great program for grabbing things that get past anti virus software. Do a scan and remove selected when finished....it's in every techie's tool kit;) PS when malwarebytes first loads it may ask if you want to accept or decline a trial...just decline it. It is free unless you need real time protection. I recommend just updating and running it periodically or when a problem arisies....and it's free.
