Can't search with my browser. Virus?

Specs: Windows Vista, Windows Vista Home Premium/3.00 GB
Hello. My problem is I can't search anything with my browser. When I try to, it just takes me to an all white blank screen, with scroll bars on the right and bottom of the screen.

It's funny though, because the address of what it is i'm looking or loading up, does shows up right in the address bar. However my bookmarked sites load just fine with no problems at all.

I noticed this just yesterday when trying to search for something, it just out of the blue started giving me the problem. I rebooted my computer to see if that would fix it. When the reboot completed and windows loaded, I got a pop up window saying my SUPER Anti-Spyware program was now missing a file and can't load up or work any longer as the result. Also I can't find SUPER Anti-Spyware any longer on my computer. As well my browser still wouldn't search anything. So then I started thinking I have a virus, spyware, malware, or somthing, that maybe it disabled my anti spyware program. So I ran a Norton scan, but it just sits there, not wanting to scan ANY files or nothing. I then tried rebooting windows in safe mode to scan that way, but I then find out Norton wont even scan in safe mode. It asked if I wanted to get this other thing that would work instead, but the internet doesn't work in safe mode, does it? I did click on it to see if it would download, but nothing happened.

So ya, I then tried looking on my computer for other ani virus and anti spyware programs I've downloaded, but no longer used or havn't used in a while. Found AVG, then installed it, but it wont load at all and is acting like I didn't install it, wont even give a desktop icon and again, can't find the installed files anywhere on my computer. So then...I installed yet another anti spyware program I found. After the intall, this time I did get a desktop icon, but when I clicked on it, I got a pop up window saying that, again, a file was missing, disabling the program.

So since I can't go to any sites, other then my bookmarks, none of which are bookmarks for anti spyware, virus, or malware programs, I then next downloaded some anti spyware and anti malware, as well as a new copy of AVG on to my girlfriend's computer. So I could transfer them to my computer threw Windows messanger. But it seems that you can only send pictures or video to other people with it.

Everything else seems to work fine. I can still use my bookmarks, run my games just fine, and other programs as well, but there isn't any doubt in my mind that the virus will only continue effect my system more and more as time goes by. But since internet searching is out the window, I am completely out of ideas as to how to get rid of of the problem. I supose I could network connect or whatever it's called, with my girlfriends comp and try to fix it that way, but I run the risk of infecting her computer that way, don't I?

So at the momment all I can think of is to reformat my system. But I thought I would ask here first, just incase there is another way to fix my problem.

Thank you for any help you can give me...

Try using a usb flash drive to bring the new antivirus files to your system then reboot in safe mode and do a scan.

Ok, so I downloaded and transfered the fallowing programs usging a flash drive from my gf's comp to my own, like you suggested:

AVG 8.5

I only got SpyBot and AVG to install. Also, ran ATF-Cleaner, you don't install it, it just runs when you click it, and used it to clean everything that it had options for. After rebooting in safe mode, SpyBot wouldn't work when I clicked on it's icon and just wouldn't work no matter what I tried.

AVG however, I did manage to get a scan going. It scanned for quite some time in safe mode, but when it got to scanning my FireFox files, it just stopped. I thought maybe it was just taking a while to scan that section, for some reason, so I just let it sit for a while to see what would happen. After letting it sit for about 2 or 3 hours, it still hadn't moved past that file. Giving up I closed the scan and decided to try it a 2nd time.

I'm going to let it scan over night, but if it's stuck on that file again when I wake in the morning, I'm probably just going to make back ups of files I want to keep and then just go ahead and do a system restore. But if you might have any more ideas, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
