can't find downloaded files on Vista Windows

January 8, 2011 at 15:51:13
Specs: Windows Vista, 4.0GB
When I try to download a program or file to my Wiindows Vista I am asked to save or run ... I save it and give it a location or folder... it then appears to download it.. the screen is gone and I go to the folder where I saved it. It is not there, folder is empty. I can not find the downloaded program or file. It appears to download it but I can't fiind it.

next step is note the download file name and then do a search for it on your hard drive.

I have done that and still can't find it. The search finds no such file named. I make a new file for it and know exactly where it is.. but the file will be empty.

I am having the same issue. I download a file, appears to download, run and save to even my desktop, and go to search forl file very where and no such file exists.

What is the problem?

Long shot but wait a while after screen goes. Sometimes security is still checking the file before it is finally saved.

We all live on a ball.

a simple test would be to download the file again with same name to same spot. If you get "file name already exists" you know the file is there.
