Does your parents router have MAC address filtering enabled?
If so, you will either need to add the laptops MAC address to the table, or disable the filter

MAC address filtering is a security feature that will allow only certian computers to connect by their wifi/chipset

Looks like your laptop failed to get the IP address and other network settings from that router. Advise you to log on to router management page, check whether DHCP setting is configured properly. This is an example of wireless router configuration, feel free to take a look.

If not, check the IP address and other network settings used on your parent computers, after that manually configure those network settings on your computer. Remember to use other unique IP address on same network.

Hope this helps.
