cannot delete an entry in reg using regedit

Specs: Windows Vista
i have an entry i cannot delete in registry useing regedit...also tried useing autoruns form microsoft ..still won't delete..had a virus and cleaned it out ..but aparently it didn't get it all and i get this error msg Desktop window...could not load or run C:\Users\SEXYLA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1219fffc0003ede6.exe....i go in to regedit and find entry but it will not let me delete it or even modify it...tried in safe mode as well...also tried it in autoruns from micosoft...same thing won't delete access denied....how do i get rid of this entry?

Have you checked the permissions on the key? Even though you are Administrator you may have to - just like with a file or folder - take ownership of the key, then grant yourself the right to delete it.

If you haven't done so already I would be inclined to run MalwareBytes freebie on that machine.

derek, already did that ran malware anti-malware,superantispyware,spybot search and destroy, also ran ccleaner and glary utilities, but it didnt get rid of the reg entry...but i already took care of it with ijacks suggestion about the permissions...everything is fine now and working great...but thanks anyways.
