Defrag may work when you are in Windows Safe-Mode.

Aha, thx for info. It seems I'm a bit behind on new features and arrangements. Makes me wonder how the OP's find their shifted posts tho.

The OP is still attached the thread
When someone replies they receive an email response (if email response is enabled)
If no one replies then true they would need to search for their Topic (ideally in the right forum ;))

Norton System Works 9 may have disabled Windows Defrag, for its own tools
Is your "System Works 9" a 60day trial, or is it the full version? (likely trial)

If it is trial and you don't want to purchase it, then just uninstall it in "Programs" in Control Panel
Otherwise you will need to start "System Works 9" and possibly activate it (trial will also "activate" but only be available for a certain amount of time)

My view > Uninstall it
Then download and install Free Avira Antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/...

Does the error exactly say can't defrag?

No problems
I was Moderator myself (another forum) for a couple of years, I had to learn all this stuff too, just in case others asked when I moved a thread
