Go into BIOS and insure the hard drive is detected...

I definitely agree with X86, only with a few other tips:

1. Check your hard drive is alive and spinning.
2. Check that your MBR on your hard disk was not damaged or modified.

Hi X86 and agreimann,

I have a toshiba satellite L305D-S5934 my hard drive popped out during airport security. I checked the connections which seem to be fine. However, the hard drive makes a sweeking noise, it may be damaged. I need the data, which has all of my classroom material. Is there a reliable universal boot disk that will give me access to the hard drive? Also, can I use any similar toshiba startup disk? I was thinking of going to bestbuy and creating a startup disk from one of the floor models? What do you think? Thank you for your help.

Oh,

In the BIOS the hard drive is not detected, yet it says I have 3072 MB on my optical hard drive?
