Hi mavis007,
Thanks for your reply. I know this KB article, unfortunately I could never implement the solution it proposes, as I cannot rename or delete folder c:\windows\softwaredistribution
Although I have an administrator profile, Vista refuses to modify this folder because of insufficient rights.
Do you know how to overcome this issue ?
Thanks in advance. Claude

Hi mavis007,
Finally, I could delete the softwaredistribution folder after a cold reboot, but it does not change anything.
Anyway, I can survive... I downloaded Office service packs directly from the microsoft site.
Still many thanks anyway. Claude
