Sounds like you bought a stolen computer. You could try contacting Dell, although I doubt that they will help, or you can contact your local police, who may be more interested.

In either event, I'm afraid that you won't receive help here to bypass password protection.

They sold you a stolen laptop? I'd call the police and see if you can get your money back.

Hang up and live.

Hey thanks for info, I figured that it was most likely stolen but I thought I would try anyway. If anyone has any info on my problem please let me know asap. I will be getting my money back if I cant get this issue resolved. Much appreciated, Wendy

If you believe the laptop is stolen you are legally bound to report this to police. Accepting stolen goods is illegal and anyone helping you to bypass any security it has would be an accessory. Please don't ask this.

What is there to resolve? The legal owner should have sold it to you and provided correct password.
I get the feeling you don't really care if it was stolen. What kind of place do you live in?

Hang up and live.
