Black color in taskbar

May 10, 2011 at 12:29:28
Specs: Windows Vista
In both Firefox & IEx, the top of my page is black coloured & File, Edit, etc. has a gray background, making it difficult to read. How do I return it to blue?

Not sure I can help but I have difficulty imagining what you are describing.

The Taskbar is the one that is always at the very bottom of your screen.
The bar at the very top of the screen is the Title bar and is normally blue.
As for File, Edit, etc mine also has a grayish background (with printing in black) and I have no problem reading them.

Maybe you can work out a better way to explain your issue - I realise it is not always easy to properly explain what one is seeing.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

I'm sorry - I should have said the very top of my screen. It is blue behind my google search bar and my add-on. Above that, the area where File, Edit, View, etc. is locate is grey. The faint black letters on a grey background makes them difficult to see. On top of this, the screen is black. I hope this is clearer. Thank you.

I assume everything is OK on other windows, such as "Computer" and the pictures are OK.

In which case it is most weird that this problem only arises in browsers. Neither of them have any settings for colors. You can change colors in Display Properties but these are system wide.

Scraping the barrel I can only think that in some way the two similar arrangements in the browsers either affect your monitor, or more likely your display card.

Assuming the monitor is set up correctly (and that your black is not dark blue) then perhaps it would be worth updating your graphics drivers.

Nobody has joined us so this probably means that there are not many ideas about. Just the same it is worth checking this post from time to time to see if someone else comes up with any bright ideas.

EDIT:
There websites around where you can upload images for free so that we could see your exact problem. You would need some sort of screen capture facility to do this (there are freebies around).

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

Thank you. Maybe you're right & it is very dark blue. Strange but today, most of the top window is light blue, the dark area has, for some reason, become much smaller, little more than a streak. So I'm just going to leave it but I appreciate your input.
