Audio CD burned in Vista wont play in car

Specs: Windows Vista
Hi i copied a small audio from my desktop to a cd r so that i could listen to it in my car but although it works through the laptop it wont play on my cd player in the car or radio... do I have to format the cd and how do i do this? thanks.

Car radios may have an ability to read different formats. XP and Vista tend to copy as .wav or we say wave file. Almost no car radio can read a wave file. Save the file as an MP3 and try it. It may or may not work.

It sounds like you are burning the cd as a data cd. Burn it as an audio cd. Most decent burning software theses days will automatically convert the audio file to the compatable format for audio CD's.

No, you don't need to format it.. That is only needed when you want to use drag to disc UDF format which is the last thing you want for an audio cd.

I also had trouble as I could not get the dvd disc with my copy of an audio to play so I took your advise and burned is as audio and yes I can now listen to it on my small dvd player. Thanks again. Sylvia.
