Attempting to rename files in explorer moves the view over

Specs: Windows Vista the next column on the right in list view, meaning that if i try to rename a file in a folder with a lot of files, i can't actually see the changes i'm making.

Judging by the lack of replies I suspect, like me, that no-one's too sure of exactly what you mean.

Just as a shot in the dark, do you mean that if, for example, you name a file beginning with 'a' to one beginning with 'z', that it immediately moves to the end of the list (which, in 'list view' would be to the right side of the window)?

If so, what if you display the filenames in something other than 'name' order, that way, when you change them, they won't move.

If this is totally wrong then please re-post giving as much explanation as possible.

Hi zer0nix,

I am Makarand P from the Dell Social Media and Communities team.

With regards to your issue, i would suggest you to change the view to tiles or small icons so that you can rename the file and also see what its being renamed as and then change it back to the list view.

Kindly revert for further clarifications,

Thanks and regards,
