... is this an upgrade to Vista from xp installation?

... was Vista originally on this laptop? if so I suggest that you make an Acer recovery cd/dvd through the programs listing just incase something goes wrong.

... one then should be able to boot up with that media and install to factory settings.

... I am suggesting that you create one at this stage and also "backup" wanted files, pics love letters etc to other media.

... can you see the file "AcerBoot.iso" on the recovery partition? if so what size is it?

... let me know before you use the recovery cd as I have two other things to try first.

... Driver Verifier caught this error during an operation to free its Memory Pool

... I hav'nt messed with "Driver Verifier" before and judging by some of the errors in #8 maybe I "would" knowing that the recovery dvd's worked before!

... by the looks of it I think I would of used the bootup recovery 1+2 dvd's by now.

... the other thing I was going to try (past tense) would of been to use a bootup cd then selecting "pqservice" as the active partition (making it active) rebooting again with fingers crossed. Many recovery partitions can be evoked in this manner depending on the method but I am not too familiar with Acer recovery creation although I have used the D2D on other laptops without a "hitch"

... after reading this (please do so) I'm not sure if your recovery dvd's are even bootable.

... learnt a bit more about Acer:PS...I have bootup iso to make it active

Hey Plz help me :(

I restored my Acer note book laptop to factory default a few times (It's Windows Vista, always have been, It was Vista when I got it, The product key is Vista, I never installed any other OS like XP ect). During the restoration process there was always some kind of error message so I couldn't install windows, I had to try the Alt-f10 method like 10 times, I got really frustrating but I kept trying it and the restoration process was finally successful (I had windows up and running again. Then I had a nasty BSOD problem and I tried the Alt-F10 options again, I had to go through the same process as before (This time it took me 3 tries to restore windows to the factory default successfully). It takes a while and a few tries but it always pulled through. I got two recovery disks with my Acer laptop, of course I tried them at first, I inserted disc 1, then when it asked for the other disk I inserted it as well but the disks never completed the Alt-F10 restoration, they always stopped like to 89% and that was it so that's why I used the option that didn't require the disks (This all was a few months ago)

Now I'm trying to restore my laptop again to the factory default by Acer eRecover again but when I Try to use it on windows, It just restarts the computer normally without doing the restoration process (which I thought was weird). So I restarted the computer to try the Alt-F10 option b4 boot and I got a message like this:

when I try ALT-F10 it displays like this... EDIT BOOT OPTION Edit Windows boot option for: Microsoft Windows Vista Path:\windows\system32\winload.exe Partion:2 Hard Disk:8fa61239 [ /NO EXECUTE = OPTIN ]

And I just (Esc) because I had no Idea what that was, I just left it, didn't want do mess things up even more.

And another problem is that my DVD RW drive doesn't read discs anymore, I never really used it, (Just a few times) and it was fine, recently I tried to install a PC game but it wouldn't read. (I usually hear a loud fan-like sound when the disc is reading but as soon as the disk goes in, (there's this noise, then it stops) and doesn't read. I thought that was weird, so I tried DVDs, Audio CDs and none of them read.

I checked device manager all all seems fine, it says my Driver is up to date and there's not yellow exclamation mark. So that means it's fine right? I even tried to uninstall it, then use the scan icon at the top of the device manager window and windows detects the change and re-installs the driver again (The driver for my DVD RW/CD Rom Drive).

I removed the Lower and Upper filters and stuff from the registry, then reboot, hoping that would solve the problem but it didn't :( Still have the problem. That's why I wanted to do a restoration again. When I go to "My Computer" the drive is there, when I press" Eject" it opens (so that means my computer still detects it right? So I think there is nothing wrong with it, my opinion, maybe it just got messed up or is being blocked or something). I cleaned it, cleaned all the discs before I enter them (always do) but it's not reading anything anymore :( I only used it a few times!!!! So this is very upsetting.

So there is no way to do a back up :( Do you know any information that can assist in these problems plz :( . Acer eRecover management just reboots my computer normally when I try to restore it to the factory date, Alt-F10 doesn't work anymore and to top it all off my DVD RW Drive just stopped working.

Sorry if this is soo long, just thought I should state all the details so someone can identify the prob fast.

Oh yeah in the computer management there is something called "Eisa Configuration" a partition and when I right click it all I can access is "help" while in the other partitions when I right click I can access the properties ect.., so what the hell is that Eisa Configuration thing? Isn't that where the Recovery partition is supposed to be? (Sorry I'm not an expert on PCs but I'm not half bad either, just can't solve this problem :(. I also tried partition recovery software and did a scan for hidden partitions and one called "PQSERVICE" was identifed and I think it has something to do with the recovery..butI'm not sure.. plzzzz helpppp meeee!

and sorry this is sooo long.

Yes I extracted it from the zip file first before installation and still the same error message :

eRecovery cannot be installed -1.Bootable File
:(
Well I have a theory, lets see... ummm My D2D option is enabled in my bios at start up. Do you think because it's enabled I'm getting this error message when I'm trying to install Acer eRecovery Management? :

eRecovery cannot be installed -1.Bootable File
That would make sense...
So maybe If I disable the option then try, I'd be successful? What do you think?

but then again I've never tried it b4 so I'm a bit hesitant, I don't want to make my computer unusable :( I love it so much, can't live without it.

So if I happen to disable the D2D option in the bios, will I be able to still boot into windows successfully? Or will It be all messed up? :(
Please tell me if you know.

but since my computer is fine right now, It's running smoothly and all, then maybe I shouldn't interfere with anything but I still want my Acer eRecovery back :( because you know how viruses and stuff are!

Sorry I tend to think a lot lol but since your more experienced with this stuff I'll wait for your response and thank you so much for trying to help me, I really Appreciate it! :)

Oh yeah that link you sent me in Private message, I still haven't downloaded it yet. Will it mess my computer up? :( Will it cause boot problems? :( Do you think I should still try it? .. plz give me all the info you can.

... you'll just be disabling that function which does'nt work because of a corrupt MBR the above should fix that.
