Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB

I used to use a software link 10 years ago on a Windows 98 Operating System for a special effect to use with some music I had written and was recording. The software link is still available now but when I click the link, I get a HTTP 403 error. The exact webpage error is:-

! The website declined to show the webpage HTTP 403

Is this error happening because I am now using Windows Vista? and if so, I am right to assume that the software link will work if I use it with an old Windows 98 Operating System again the same as 10 years ago?

The software webpage looks exactly the same now as it did 10 years ago.

Hope you can help.

What's the link so we can check it out?

10 years is a long time; all sorts of things may have changed. I doubt that it's an OS or browser problem. No-one is going to be maintaining a website that works only on Windows 98.

The error just means "access is forbidden". Perhaps the service has been withdrawn for the general public, or withdrawn altogether. You could always try emailing "webmaster@<domain name>.

Why didn't you download a copy of this mystery software a long time ago?

Hi, the link isn't really relevant as the software was designed to work with Windows 95 and 98 so I guess I will have to try running it on an old Windows 98 system. The software used to take effect as soon as you clicked the link but just doesn't work with Windows Vista.
