windows nt 4.0 crashes when installing?

Specs: Windows nt 4.0
hi,

i am trying to install windows nt 4.0, but when it is loading files in the first part of the installation, it goes to a black screen, and reboots.

i have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop.

please help!

The immediate problem is likely that NT4 does not support SATA drives, being developed years after the OS was released. You can probably solve that problem. But the real problem, and a major one, is that NT4 is going to lack drivers for virtually everything in that computer. Considering that NT4 was released almost 15 years ago and has a very small user base the likelyhood of finding these drivers is just about zero.

I think you should give up on the idea.
If you really want to run NT4 install it on a virtual machine such as VirtualPC or VirtualBox.

hi,

ahh right, i am willing to try and find drivers necessary, if all else fails i will try it in a virtual machine in the mean time, can you advise as to fixing the sata hard drives problem?
