Are these true PS/2 devices or USB with PS/2 adapters?

Hi,
These are true PS/2 devices.. I am connecting the keyboard and mouse with the "Y" adapter. Not sure if this help anything but if recall the cable has a green and purple color to identify the mouse and keyboard. Turns out that mouse only works when I connect to the purple (which should be for the keyboard). However keyboard led go on as plugged in but no response after that.

thanks

Could be that for one, it doesn't like the "Y-splitter" handling both devices. I'm also assuming you've also tried a different keyboard (some machines---specifically some Dell's and Compaq's---have to have their brand of keyboard). If the keyboard works in one of the PS2 ports, then it would be possible to use a serial mouse (assuming you can find one) instead of the PS2 mouse.

Could be that one (or maybe both) ports have something wrong hardware-wise (like a blown fuse).

Hi,
I have tried different keyboards that are known to work on other machines, I tired going through the serial but did not have much success, the system currently is using the serial to connect to a touch screen. since cannot use any keyboards really cannot due any search or type of any kind.
when this as unit powers up this is the message I get: " SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER: at least one service or driver failed during system startup. use event viewer to examine."
Tried to install the keyboard driver but again not to successful either, setup.exe file when running give me error that file is corrupt and done 2 downloads and burn to cd to install..
so far have had no luck finding the solution.

thanks,
