Solved Full ram not recognized. NT 4.0 sp5

June 12, 2014 at 13:27:04
Specs: Windows 7
I have a PC running NT 4.0 sp5 and recently upgraded the motherboard with one that has 756Mb of ram. NT only sees 128Mb. I've checked the BIOS and there doesn't seem to be anything preventing it there. Is there a limit to RAM for sp5?

Found the problem was in the boot.ini file. maxmem was set to 124.

The RAM limit for 4.0 is 4GB. Are you sure that the BIOS is actually seeing all of the RAM?

BIOS shows 756Mb so yes. BIOS setup is identical to tools at another site with the same motherboard.

It's possible NT is being picky with that RAM.

If it's high density that could cause memory errors. In some cases computers will only see half the RAM if it is high density.
