ME security updates available anywhere?

Specs: ME, ?
I received an older Dell desktop with ME on it. I don't know if any updates were ever done on it. The folks were not very computer literate (neither am I). I'm thinking about using the restore CD that came with it, and keeping the computer as a spare.

Question is: are security updates, that were available at the time MS discontinued support, still available somewhere?

I had an E-machines wimdows 98 machine and I was able, a few years ago, to find a package of updates for 98 , after support was discontinued.

Thanks, Jim

Windows update still works if you have IE6.
Of course there have been no new updates since support was dropped.

You will need Internet Exploer 6 Service Pack 1 installed:

then go to:

You will need all critical and non critical updates, also DELL still offer support for older products..

You can also try this link:

Unfortunately the website operates with frames, so there is no direct link to each page.

If you go to

then click on the left hand side "WinME Tricks"

Then scroll down to the second section "Windows ME Service Packs (SPs)"

It's the same link I posted above:

Let me know how this works for you.

THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SERVICE PACK RELEASED BY MICROSOFT. Therefore there are no guarantees made to how this service pack will affect your system.
