Format a hard drive

I have an hp pavilion with me os ,I want to format or wipe it , I want to get red of it by send it to recycle center I want the easiest way to do such thing

Technically, formatting doesn't erase any data. Files can be easily recovered after a drive has been formatted. You will need special software to completely wipe the HDD. A lot of people use DBAN (Darik's Boot And Nuke). You will have to create a bootable DBAN disc, then boot off it & follow the instructions. It may take an hour or longer to completely wipe the drive, depending on its size.
