BIOS not installed

Specs: Windows Vista
I am running a custom duel prossesor computer and my HDD went south so i bought a new HDD and put it in the computer and when it starts it says BIOS not installed and after that it comes up media boot failed check wires.Any help?

SATA or IDE drive? You probably need to configure cmos/bios setup for whichever one you have.

does your BIOS support both SATA and IDE if not you can try upgrading BIOS on windows environment by downloading the updates from the BIOS or comps manufacturer web BUT make sure there no power fluctuations when upgrading otherwise this would mess up your motherboard.

Disable booting from SATA or SCSI in your cmos/bios setup. Or do you have a SCSI or ATA card installed? Might be associated with a RAID setup too. Check your motherboard manual if you're not sure how to do it.

That message is coming because one of those interfaces is enabled without a drive being connected.
