Solved Win 98 (Version 4.10.1998) showing C:\. What Should I do?

Specs: Win 98, 512 mb
Mixrosoft (R) Windows 98
(C) Copyright Microsoft Corp 1981–1998.

This is the exact screen which I got when I booted my pc 1st time after plugging it a usb which has Win 98.
Please help.

System specs & what you're attempting to do would be helpful. 512MB RAM might be too much for Win98 to handle so if possible, lower the RAM amount, at least temporarily. There's a workaround to use 512MB but 1st you need to get into Windows to make the change.

Try typing win at the C:\> prompt, then press Enter & see what happens.

Old thread but are you still there?

Did anything happen to it or did you make any changes to it between the last time it worked OK and the first time it didn't?

You will get that message if you did a 'format c:/s" or a "sys c" from a dos boot disk and then booted up the computer.
