There is a lot of info here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/164519

This update could also be worth a try:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...

I appreciate that you might not be able to get to windows to install the update. If you can get to Safe Mode you can try it from there.

If you are forced to reinstall W95 it should retain all your own files provided you don't reformat.

Steer clear of any wonder fixers that appear on the net.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

I can not get into safe mode. When I try, error kernel32.dll can not be loaded flashes on the screen. It also says to reinstall windows 95. I don’t want to lose any data because I do not have all the program CDs.

Without any form of Windows (even Safe Mode) then I think you are a bit stuck.
If it's a registry issue then W95 has no decent restore facility - you would almost certainly have lost the single backups by now. To find out whether the file itself is missing (probably not) and replace it you would have to fiddle around in DOS at great length, trying to extract it from cab files on your W95 disks.

If you have the Windows 95 disk or disks then you should be able to run Windows in again without formatting and with luck all your programs and own data will remain in place.

Otherwise, stick around and hope someone comes along with some better idea.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.
