Specs: Windows 7
I have an old gateway 2000 with windows 98. I want to transfer my old pictures to my new computer. Problem is the old computers usb ports do not work, cd drive is not installed and no ethernet connection. the only way i can copy pictures is copy them on floppy disk and then copy them on the new one with an external floppy disk drive which takes forever and frustrating. Any faster way you can tell would be much appreciated.

✔ Best Answer
Take out the HDD & connect it to your Win7 computer, either directly to the motherboard via the IDE cable, or use an IDE to USB adapter.

Agreed. It'd be a lot quicker than having to deal with (unreliable) floppies.

You can buy an PCI-to-USB adapter card, if yours is a desktop computer, or PCMCIA-to-USB adapter, if it is a notebook, and have your USB ports up and running again. You can re-use these cards in another computer with PCI slots or PCMCIA slots.
