Solution to VPC2007/W95 NDIS protection error

October 9, 2014 at 07:57:50
Specs: Windows 95
While setting up Windows 95 on Virtual PC 2007 I was getting the following error message "While initializing device NDIS: Windows protection error"

I reduced the RAM to 64MB and turned off Hardware Virtualization but the problem remained.

The solution was to start in Safe Mode and open the System Properties/Device Manager from the Control Panel and remove the network adapter.

Sorry about that. Feel free to move/post the solution to the correct area.

I'll also add that if you have gotten past the IOS and NDIS protection errors you'll probably want to add a shared folder but unfortunately this will not work with the 2007 Virtual Machine Additions. What you'll need to do is download the 2004 additions from http://www.essjae.com/virtualizatio...

The direct link to the zip file is http://www.essjae.com/virtualizatio...
