My pc loads windows then the microsoft name and rectangle appear on a black screen. Then it just goes off. No warning, Like you pulled the plug. The same when you try safe mode, it won't load either. Help?
Could be a problem of overheating.
Open the case an check the CPU fan and whether the heat sink of the CPU is full of dust.
Check all case vents too. some other bloke...
Everything is clean. I erased the hard drive and that took 3 hrs. with no overheating problems but when I try to reload windows os it shuts off. I turn it on and load from cd, then it says windows loading files, after the files are loaded it shuts off like someone pulled the plug. I also tried safe mode and same thing.
Try to search for a special patch on the manufacturers homepage.
that sounds like a motherboard malfunction, if no virus.
I have a friend with the same model doing the same thing. I was fortunate enough to have a T5248 with the same power supply and looks to be the exact mother board. I took my power supply and hooked to it and the same thing. I took their HDD and placed in my T5248 and removed my HDD and it boots up fine, completely usable. Best I can tell its the motherboard. I also had an extra set of memory chips that I tried, no difference. Trying to find just the motherboard. do any of you know where to start looking. emachine has been useless so far.
Do either of you posters realise this is the W95/98 forum?
